For the past 20 years Scad the Beggars has maintained a regular weekly Pub Session in Bushmills. First in the Smugglers Inn & for the past 12 years in the Bushmills Inn. For about eight years we have also maintained a weekly Pub Session in Ballymoney, first in Ma-Kelly's Bar & then more recently in the Diamond Bar. These open sessions give local musicians & singers an opportunity to join us & share their music.
Our line up remained pretty constant for many years but more recently Alan Wade decided to head for musical pastures new & we were delighted to be joined by two new members at our traditional Thursday night line up, namely Deborah Mairs & Steven Wilsonwho were quickly signed up to perform as band members.
Our material in Ballymoney each week is purely of a traditional nature with the members you see in the photo above.
In Bushmills, on the other hand, with Desie & Brian in the line up, we include some more middle of the road material, albeit still using traditional instruments, in order to appeal to a wider audience.
